One of the main questions about the economic crisis is: could controllers have foreseen this? Did controllers have enough information to assess the risks of the financial crisis? Was this information unavailable? Or, was information indeed available, but was it too vast and complex to comprehend? Information sharing to foster knowledge creation seems to be of the utmost importance. Therefore, we suggest a knowledge sharing solution: a Dutch Controllers Platform, under whose auspices meetings could be held, bringing together controllers from financial institutions, policy-makers and academics. The purpose of these meetings would be to share information and create knowledge through information exchange and debate.
